The Los Angeles Lakers should look a lot different in 2024 than they did in 2023.
Adding JJ Redick as their head coach was a controversial decision at the time, but he seems to be well-liked within the locker room.
Redick and Lebron James have an established, built-in rapport, but it was unclear how Redick would bond with other players on the roster.
As a former player in the last few years, Redick should be able to relate to this roster, and that’s starting to rear its head.
Anthony Davis seems to like what his new coach has planned for him, as he told ESPN Los Angeles.
“I think he wants me to be the alpha of the offense like we talked about,” Davis said.

Davis has effectively played second fiddle to James over the past few seasons, but that could change next season under Redick.
It appears he wants the big man to play his own, independent role, potentially putting him in the driver’s seat over James.
James, of course, is still one of the best players in league history, but for the Lakers to have a measurable impact moving forward, they’ll have to get a lot of production out of Davis.
He was brought to this team for a reason, and he can certainly take over a game when given the opportunity.
Sharing the court with James is not an easy task, but if both players can get theirs, this team could thrive with two stars.
