A double shootout in Lambertville saw 13-seed South Hunterdon prevail over 16-seed Sparta to advance to the second round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament.
The two squads played to a 1-1 tie at the end of the regulation.
After the first shootout period didn’t decide a winner, the Eagles were able to advance by edging out Sparta during the second shootout period.
Caitlin Webb scored a goal for the Eagles and Payton Polukord had seven saves during the victory.
South Hunterdon (6-3) advances to face four-seed Hackettstown in the second round.
Eliana Intorrella scored a goal in the contest for Sparta (3-8).
